Tanglichok of Gorkha achieves 10th VDC ODF Status

On 9 June 2013 Tanglichok, a NEWAH working Village Development Committee (VDC) was declared an open defecation free (ODF) area. It is the 10th VDC to achieve the ODF status in Gorkha district and 848th in the country. The declaration was organized by the the Village WASH Coordination Committee (V-WASH-CC).
A total of 843 households out of the 848 in the VDC are using an improved toilet and the rest five are in the process of completing theirs. NEWAH has been working in the VDC through the support of Simavi - Dutch WASH Alliance (DWA) since 2010. So far seven WASH projects have completed. This year four are under implementation, three with the support of Simavi-DWA and one with the support of Simavi. Once the projects complete the VDC will also achieve total water coverage.
